A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental health disorders. At Al Zahra, our psychiatrists are board certified in Adult Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. They treat children ages three years old and up, and adult and geriatric patients by taking a multi-disciplinary, integrated approach to mental health and wellness. They work with primary care doctors, specialists, and therapists to address the psychological, physical and emotional well being of their patients.

Our psychiatrists focus on optimizing the mental health of patients through psychopharmacology (or medication management) and psychotherapy (or "talk therapy"). With access to Al Zahra's state of the art laboratories and diagnostic imaging, our psychiatrists can order laboratory tests and neuroimaging on site and can access all of your important medical information through our shared Electronic Health Records (EHR) to ensure a seamless continuum of care.
