Imaging & Radiology

This department incorporates all aspects of oncological imaging and includes CT, MRI, ultrasound, general and interventional radiology and mammography. At Al Zahra Hospital Dubai, we have an extensive array of leading-edge radiology capabilities to help us offer you a standard of care that is one of the highest. Our Radiology physicians and Radiologic technologists provide expert imaging services. Our role is to help maintain and restore the health of patients by providing diagnostic tests and therapeutic treatments when appropriate.

Our Services

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)

We have five state-of-the-art MRI scanners, three 1.5T MRI scanners and two 3T MRI scanners. We provide advanced clinical and research scanning, specialising in functional and whole body imaging in the assessment of lesion biology and response.

Computerised tomography (CT)

We have four state-of-the-art Siemens diagnostic CT scanners across both our sites, offering dual-source energy and interventional CT capabilities which allow us to create detailed cross-sectional images to assist with diagnosis, staging and response during and post treatment.

Interventional radiography (IR)

Our IR service allows us to carry out complex procedures like angioplasties, chemo-embolisation and lesion ablation, as well as simpler procedures such as the insertion of gastric and jejunal feeding tubes. The service is consultant-led and is carried out by specialist interventional radiologists. We also have a 24/7 emergency on call IR service.

Mammography

We have Rapid Diagnostic and Assessment Centres with five mammography units, three state-of-the-art Hologic Tomosynthesis and two GE Senograph mammography units. This ensures that patients at both our sites have access to premium quality mammography imaging. The centres are used for one-stop symptomatic breast clinics, as well as for moderate family history patients and Open Access follow-up patients. Our dedicated breast radiology team also perform interventional breast guided biopsies under mammographic, US and MRI guidance.

Ultrasound (US)

We have state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment at both our sites. Our US service offers both general and breast procedures including ultrasound-guided biopsies on a wide range of body parts, as an integral part of the patient treatment pathway.
